GENERAL INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES

Apply to any China interview

Prepare a 2-minute self-introduction

State your name, home country, current studies, and why you are applying. Keep it natural, not memorised word-for-word.

Know your program's research focus

Read the department's website and two faculty members' profiles. Be ready to say how your interests connect to theirs.

Prepare questions for the interviewer

Ask about course structure, lab access, scholarship timing and student life. Interviewers notice genuine curiosity.

Rehearse common Chinese-study prompts

Why China? Why this city? Why this university over a similar one? Have a specific, honest answer for each.

Check language logistics

Confirm whether the interview is in English or Chinese. If Chinese, prepare a short script and expect follow-up questions in Chinese.

Treat technical issues as part of the impression

Test camera, mic and connection early. Speak slowly, pause if needed, and dress as you would for an in-person interview.

DISCLAIMER

Preparation prompts, not leaked content

Question lists are based on adviser preparation notes, not leaked or guaranteed interview content. Actual interviewers may ask anything about your background, motivation and documents.
