Scholarship Application Guide

Step-by-step guidance for Chinese Government and university scholarships. ChinaPath provides guidance only — we never charge fees and all applications go through official channels.

Important: ChinaPath does not charge scholarship application fees, does not guarantee scholarship awards, and is not an agent of CSC or any university. All applications must be submitted through the official CSC portal or the university international admissions office. This guide is for informational purposes only.

Route 1 · Chinese Government Scholarship

CSC Type B — applied through your target university

Type B is the most common route for international students: you are nominated by a Chinese university and use its unique CSC agency number on the official application.

  1. 1

    Confirm your eligibility

Bachelor: high-school graduate, age ≤25, pass the CSCA academic test (www.csca.cn). Master: bachelor degree, age ≤35. PhD: master degree, age ≤40. Apply through the target university with its agency number (Type B).

  2. 2

Choose target universities and get the CSC Agency Number

Every university has its own CSC agency number. Confirm the current number and the university's own nomination rules with its international admissions office before you apply.

  3. 3

    Prepare your application documents

Passport biodata page, notarised transcripts, degree certificates (or expected graduation letter), language proficiency proof, a study or research plan, and two recommendation letters.

  4. 4

Register and complete the online application on the CSC portal

Create an account and fill in the application at www.csc.edu.cn ↗ using your chosen university's agency number.

  5. 5

Also apply to the target university

Many universities run their own admission system in parallel with CSC. Submit the university application (and any university-specific documents) as instructed.

  6. 6

    Wait for the review result

The university reviews your file and forwards the nominated list to CSC. Final results are usually released between April and July.

Deadline: Varies by university — typically Jan–Apr for autumn intake

Coverage: Tuition + accommodation + monthly stipend (Bachelor ¥2,500 · Master ¥3,000 · PhD ¥3,500) + comprehensive medical insurance

FAQ

Questions students ask

Can I apply for CSC and university scholarships at the same time?

Usually yes — many students hold CSC Type B alongside a university award. However, some schools restrict combining awards or require you to choose one. Confirm the policy with each university's international office before submitting.

Does ChinaPath help with CSC applications?

We provide guidance, timelines and document checklists, and we help you position your application package. All actual applications are submitted by you through the official CSC portal or university admission system. ChinaPath never charges scholarship fees and never promises results.

When will I know the result?

CSC results are typically announced between April and July for the September intake. University scholarships follow each school's own calendar, which can be earlier or later.

What if I don't get a scholarship?

It is wise to prepare a self-funded backup in parallel. ChinaPath can help you estimate a realistic budget — tuition, housing and living costs — for each shortlisted city and university.
