Admission requirements and documents

Chinese-taught programmes normally require HSK 4 or above; English-taught programmes normally require IELTS or TOEFL. Confirm the exact threshold per programme.

Documents are the slowest part of the file. Certified translations and notarisation happen outside the university, so they are the first thing to start.

• Passport valid for the full study period
• Highest diploma and transcripts with certified translation
• Language certificate (HSK, IELTS or TOEFL as required)
• Study plan or personal statement for master and doctoral routes
• Two academic reference letters (postgraduate)
• Foreigner Physical Examination Form and financial proof

Costs, scholarships and budget

Tuition varies by level, field and city. Ask the international office for the current figure in writing before committing to a budget.

Scholarships come from the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), provincial or municipal programmes, and university-level awards. Each has its own deadline and portal, and a scholarship application does not replace the admission application.

• Budget band: Value
• Add dormitory or private rent, insurance and living costs
• Check whether the scholarship covers insurance and accommodation
• Keep proof of funds for the visa stage

Deadlines and application timeline

Why ChinaPath recommends it

CQNU is recommended when the student’s Chinese level is ready, education is a genuine interest and affordability matters more than English-taught breadth.

What to watch: Chinese-taught study requires documented HSK readiness. The English-taught portfolio is limited. Applicants must be comfortable studying and living in Chongqing.

• Education identity creates a clear student profile
• Value budget broadens affordability
• Chongqing offers a large-city experience outside coastal price levels
• Useful as a safe/value option for Chinese-taught applicants
• Applicants with HSK readiness
• Education and Chinese-language students
• Budget-conscious students open to inland China

How ChinaPath verifies this profile

This profile is based on 2026 international undergraduate admissions brochure and was verified on Aug 2026. Every figure on the page can be traced back to the source listed below.

Where the university has not published a figure yet, we mark it as pending instead of estimating. When the official admission page changes, the record is re-checked and updated.
