Admission requirements and documents

Chinese-taught programmes normally require HSK 4 or above; English-taught programmes normally require IELTS or TOEFL. Confirm the exact threshold per programme.

Documents are the slowest part of the file. Certified translations and notarisation happen outside the university, so they are the first thing to start.

• Passport valid for the full study period
• Highest diploma and transcripts with certified translation
• Language certificate (HSK, IELTS or TOEFL as required)
• Study plan or personal statement for master and doctoral routes
• Two academic reference letters (postgraduate)
• Foreigner Physical Examination Form and financial proof

Costs, scholarships and budget

Tuition varies by level, field and city. Ask the international office for the current figure in writing before committing to a budget.

Scholarships come from the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), provincial or municipal programmes, and university-level awards. Each has its own deadline and portal, and a scholarship application does not replace the admission application.

• Budget band: Value
• Add dormitory or private rent, insurance and living costs
• Check whether the scholarship covers insurance and accommodation
• Keep proof of funds for the visa stage

Why ChinaPath recommends it

XTU is not simply a low-cost choice. It is useful when the student needs a credible comprehensive university, several level options and a budget that leaves room for living costs.

What to watch: English-taught availability needs program-level confirmation. Students should be comfortable with Xiangtan rather than choosing only by cost. Self-funded and scholarship deadlines are different.

• Value positioning can improve total study affordability
• Degree and language routes allow flexible study planning
• Useful as a safe or value choice beside more competitive schools
• Broad subject coverage supports students still refining their major
• Budget-conscious applicants
• Students open to a non-tier-one city
• Applicants needing a balanced safe or value option

How ChinaPath verifies this profile

This profile is based on 2026 international student admission brochure and was verified on Aug 2026. Every figure on the page can be traced back to the source listed below.

Where the university has not published a figure yet, we mark it as pending instead of estimating. When the official admission page changes, the record is re-checked and updated.
